A circulator of energy. Yarrow regulates blood with its ability to both clot and thin as needed to bring flow and lessen stagnation. It does the same thing energetically for the aura. Sometimes we find ourselves “bleeding” energy out into the troubles and concerns of others, especially if we are empathic by nature. The other way it could go is to become hardened and closed off completely. Yarrow helps to regulate this flow of energy, keeps boundaries intact, and helps to keep the whole self whole, while still allowing space for being able to give and receive with ease and balance.
Yarrow helps the wounded and the healer or caretaker to establish boundaries which allow each to play their part in the healing process. Applied to physical cuts and skin wounds, yarrow stops bleeding and knits the skin back together. This returns wholeness to the injured site, bringing calming and healing. These same attributes are applied to the soul at times of fray and wither.
I recently planted Yarrow seeds. Nothing yet, but I am hopeful! We are in the thick of May gray here in Los Angeles, which is gloomy, cool, and dark until about 1pm most days. Maybe as the sun comes up earlier, she will emerge. I was drawn to Yarrow quite a bit in the last two months of winter, always keeping a cup of warm infusion near me. The comfort was so strong and inviting. I wondered if she was trying to tell me something.
Working with Yarrow is like following the instructions of the safety mask on an airplane. Apply your mask first, then help others! You cannot be prepared to assist if you are not grounded, protected, and established in your sense of self. We are experiencing stimulation from every angle in modern society and it is easy to be pulled from our heart’s center. Absorbing the feelings and thoughts of others is the design laid out for us on social media. The majority of us are also required to walk out into society each day and take on the energy from other people’s feelings and reactions to the world around us. The noise can be so loud, that it can be difficult to hear one’s own needs or inner cries for tending.
Yarrow is like a big bubble that surrounds you as a shield. You can see out and gently perceive the outside world, but the bubble is protective and only lets in what you allow. Information can seep in, and you may send some out, but the passageway is guarded and veiled so as to keep you safe in your strength and solitude. This is a perfect auric remedy for empaths, healers, teachers, therapists, and leaders of any kind. If you feel that your security has been breached for a long time now, that you are leaking energy and giving way more than feels comfortable, with nothing to replenish your strength from the outside or yourself, you may benefit from Yarrow! A flower essence would be perfect, as would a cup of tea, or a bouquet on your table.
As June begins, I am feeling relaxed and open. A freshly washed sheet hanging on a line, swaying in the cool morning breeze. Birds sing their early morning songs and I am reminded that I am here again. One with everything, but also one with me.
May you float gently into summer in your own glistening bubble, like Glinda of OZ. Open to adventure, possibility, hopes, and desires!
